Jack Penman

on realising it’s the different people who will
make a difference in the world
and how we can support them

Jack is the inventor and mastermind behind JackBord – a fun and robust tool that encourages students from all different backgrounds and minorities to engage more with technology and science.

He has learnt to understand and direct his gifts of ADHD and Dyslexia into experimenting, creating and teaching to solve the problems and challenges of today and tomorrow so that collectively, we can enjoy our ride through life.

Jack started developing JackBord in December of 2017. Although, in reality, the dream came from his University days at the University of Canterbury where he gained his Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, while at the same time designing and manufacturing weather stations.

Jack has a knack for surrounding himself with talented people who support him in his endeavours to open a world of opportunity for future generations. Jack believes there is nothing quite so satisfying as watching something you’ve created bring joy to others, changing them for the better.

Apart from being a very experienced and creative electronics engineer, Jack has remarkable skill as a versatile professional photographer. And when he’s not creating wonderful electronic things and images, Jack loves to teach electronics and robotics to kids of all ages, play the cello, let off any surplus energy through karate, and support his two boys into a world of opportunity.

Jack will spend his time on the big red dot talking about how it’s the different people who will make a difference in the world – and how we can support them.
